Our client is looking for a skilled and experienced full-time Indian Cuisine Chef to join their Indian restaurant based in Wodonga, Victoria 3690. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing quality Indian dishes, maintaining kitchen standards, supporting daily kitchen operations and ensuring customer satisfaction through consistent food quality.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook food to a consistently high standard.
- Ensure all menu items are prepared and served according to restaurant expectations.
- Maintain customer satisfaction by delivering quality food in a timely manner.
- Prepare food within budget guidelines while reducing wastage and controlling costs.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and food safety at all times.
- Follow and support the approved food safety plan.
- Check, monitor and maintain kitchen equipment in proper working condition.
- Work closely with the Head Chef to maintain consistency in food quality, ingredients and presentation.
- Follow nutrition, hygiene and sanitation standards in all kitchen operations.
- Support strong team performance within the kitchen.
- Receive, check and store food items according to health and safety requirements.
- Attend team meetings when required.
- Prepare and cook high-quality food according to menu guidelines and recipes.
- Supervise kitchen team members under your responsibility.
- Support clear communication between kitchen staff and front-of-house staff.
- Receive and record supplier deliveries accurately.
- Assist in training kitchen staff, apprentices and trainees.
- Follow safe and hygienic food handling procedures.
- Maintain regular kitchen cleaning and waste disposal practices.
- Follow safe work practices and encourage others to do the same.
- Keep kitchen equipment, tools and plant in good condition.
- Show strong teamwork, time management and organisational skills.
- Monitor revenue, food costs and kitchen performance.
- Maintain and guarantee quality standards.
- Apply cost control practices in daily kitchen operations.
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised and well maintained.
- Complete required kitchen administration duties.
Requirements:
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
- Minimum one (1) year of relevant work experience.
- Previous experience in preparing Indian cuisine is required.
