Kogan People Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a busy café restaurant in Narre Warren VIC. The restaurant serves a fresh and varied breakfast, brunch and lunch menu, using quality ingredients sourced from local markets.
The business is now looking for a skilled and experienced Chef to join its kitchen leadership team. This is a full-time, ongoing role suited to someone who enjoys leading a motivated kitchen team and working in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support and motivate the kitchen team to achieve high-quality results.
- Assist with the recruitment and training of cooks and kitchen staff.
- Oversee and take part in daily meal preparation.
- Manage kitchen stock, ordering, consumables, cost control and budgeting.
- Work with management to create, test and introduce new menu items and special dishes.
- Maintain strong compliance with OH&S and Food Safety standards.
- Collaborate closely with the management team to support smooth kitchen operations.

Candidate Requirements
- Relevant post-secondary cookery qualifications, at least Diploma level or an agreed equivalent.
- Minimum three years of experience in a similar professional chef role after qualification.
- Availability to work across weekdays and weekends.
- Strong ability to prioritise tasks, set goals and deliver results.
- Good understanding of food safety and HACCP requirements.
- Knowledge of cost control, time management and efficient procurement practices.
- Proven people management skills with the ability to get the best from your team.
