Job Description

RR Group Victoria Pty Ltd (ABN 94 688 370 621), trading as Pier 17 Bar & Grill, is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Chef to manage kitchen operations and create exceptional dining experiences.

The successful candidate will lead the kitchen team, oversee food preparation and menu delivery, maintain consistent food quality, and ensure all dishes meet the venue’s presentation and service standards. This position is ideal for a skilled culinary professional with strong leadership abilities and a genuine passion for hospitality.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations and ensure efficient service
  • Lead, support, train, and mentor chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff
  • Prepare and supervise the production of high-quality dishes
  • Work with management to create, review, and update menus
  • Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health requirements
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, consistency, and portion sizes
  • Manage stock levels, supplier relationships, and inventory ordering
  • Control food costs and implement measures to reduce wastage
  • Prepare staff rosters and monitor kitchen team performance
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is maintained and used safely
  • Respond professionally to customer feedback about food quality
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organised, safe, and productive
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery, Diploma of Hospitality Management, or an equivalent culinary qualification is preferred
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Senior Chef, Sous Chef, Head Chef, or in a similar senior culinary role
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and HACCP principles
  • Experience in menu planning, food costing, stock control, and supplier management
  • Proven ability to lead, train, mentor, and motivate kitchen employees
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and time-management skills
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and other busy service periods
  • Strong commitment to culinary quality and delivering memorable guest experiences
