Job Description

MJ Mechanical is looking for an experienced and dependable Motor Mechanic to join our automotive workshop team in Tasmania. The successful candidate will inspect, diagnose, service and repair a variety of vehicles while maintaining high standards of safety, quality workmanship and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect vehicles and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
Carry out scheduled, logbook, major and minor servicing.
Repair or replace engines, brakes, batteries and other vehicle components.
Use diagnostic equipment to test and identify vehicle faults.
Perform engine tune-ups and routine vehicle maintenance.
Repair steering, suspension, transmission and braking systems.
Replace damaged or worn vehicle parts.
Conduct road tests to ensure completed repairs are safe and effective.
Maintain accurate service and repair records.
Keep tools and workshop areas clean and organised.
Follow all workplace health and safety requirements.
Clearly explain vehicle faults and recommended repairs to customers.

Skills and Requirements

Relevant qualification in automotive mechanics.
Previous experience as a Motor Mechanic.
Good diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
Knowledge of petrol and diesel vehicle systems.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and time-management skills.
Valid driver’s licence.
Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
