We are looking for a skilled and motivated Truck Driver to join our busy seafood business based in Richmond, South Australia. The role involves the collection and delivery of seafood across Adelaide and regional South Australia, including regular trips to Port MacDonnell (South East S.A.) and Pondalowie Bay (Yorke Peninsula).
This is a full-time position offering a salary between $75,000 and $85,000, with 11.5% superannuation included. The ideal candidate will have experience in handling seafood,including species identification, sorting, grading, and packaging, alongside excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manoeuvring trucks safely into position for accurate loading and unloading of seafood products.
- Loading and unloading vehicles using appropriate lifting and handling equipment.
- Strictly adhering to all safety requirements when handling seafood products, equipment, and vehicles.
- Performing regular quality and safety checks on the truck to ensure operational standards are met.
- Estimating and managing load weights to comply with vehicle capacity limitations.
- Ensuring goods are securely stowed and covered to prevent any damage during transit.
- Verifying pickup and delivery documentation, inspecting the condition of goods, identifying seafood species, and checking their grade, size, and quality.
- Sorting, grading, icing, packaging, or repackaging seafood upon receival and as required before delivery.
- Obtaining certification for deliveries when required.
- Communicating effectively with team members, clients, and suppliers to ensure smooth and accurate delivery processes.
Skills and Qualifications Required:
- A current HR (Heavy Rigid) driver’s licence.
- Ability to manage and maintain energy levels, especially during the busy summer peak period.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating deliveries and completing documentation.
- Proven experience in following and upholding workplace health and safety regulations.
- Self-motivated with strong initiative, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- In-depth knowledge of South Australian fish species, including the ability to identify quality, grade, and size.
- Flexibility with working hours to meet seasonal peak demands.
